What is education for when answers are everywhere?
What is education for when answers are everywhere?
Current position — May 2026
What I used to believe. I thought good teaching was the ability to explain complex material clearly.
What changed my mind. My students began using AI not only to find answers, but to manage their work, break down tasks, and challenge their own thinking. In some cases, they no longer needed me as their source of knowledge.
Where I stand today. A teacher’s role is not to be the person who knows more than the machine. It is to help students choose questions, spot weak arguments, judge results, and take responsibility for decisions.
What still does not sit right with me. How do we assess learning when the output no longer proves who thought, what they understood, and what was merely generated?
